Com a biometria, o eleitor é identificado através de suas digitais, evitando assim pessoas possam votar com documentos falsos.
O juiz eleitoral, José Giannasi explicou ao VILHENA NOTÍCIAS que a decisão de pedir documentos com fotos, veio de que os mesários estariam tendo problemas com máquina leitora de digitais. Em alguns casos, o eleitor não estava sendo identificado com nenhum dos dedos.
O promotor eleitoral também disse que como o sistema de biometria está sendo usado pela primeira vez na comarca, ainda haverá um tempo para adaptação de todos, inclusive um possível melhoramento das máquinas que a Justiça Eleitoral venha usar.
