A pescadora Maria das Graças Mota Bernardo, 64 anos, teve que comer peixe cru e até defender o corpo do marido de urubus durante quase uma semana em que ficou à deriva no meio do Rio Negro, em Iranduba , a 27 quilômetros de Manaus.
Ela foi resgatada na última terça-feira (4), junto com o corpo do marido José Nilson de Souza Bernardo, 69, que sofreu um infarto enquanto pescava.
Segundo a família, o casal saiu da Comunidade Carão para pescar no dia 29 de março por volta das 5h.
José e Maria utilizavam duas embarcações: uma era usada como abrigo, e a outra menor servia para armazenar os peixes. Esta foi a embarcação encontrada por moradores da região logo após o desaparecimento do casal.
Segundo os relatos de Maria das Graças à família, José Nilson passou mal e morreu ainda no primeiro dia de pesca, por volta de meia-noite de quarta-feira (29).
“Eles andavam com um fogãozinho e uma botija. Eles jantaram, e ele foi se deitar na rede. A corda da rede estalou e ele se espantou, gritou, levantou e bateu o joelho. Ele se sentou na rede e começou a se abanar com pano. Ele dizia pra ela que estava com calor”, conta a filha.
“Ela disse que ele levantou, deu um grito e caiu. Ele se levantou da rede com dificuldade. Ela pegou, ela levantou a cabeça dele e ele deu o último suspiro”.
Depois da morte do marido, Maria das Graças decidiu amarrar a canoa de peixes em uma árvore. Na canoa que ocupava com o marido, precisou se desfazer do fogão. A idosa decidiu buscar ajuda, mas o motor da embarcação que servia de abrigo travou. “Ela foi para a proa e começou a remar. Ela passou esses dias remando”, disse.
Segundo a filha, foi a primeira vez que a idosa saiu para pescar com o marido. “Eles tinham planejado essa viagem há meses. Ele queria levar ela para bater fotos. Ia ser o momento deles”, contou.
Alimentação
Cristiane contou que, nos primeiros dias, a mãe se alimentou de peixe cru e farinha. “Como acabou, um dia ela só bebeu água. Noutro dia, ela só comeu farinha com água e tomou suco de limão puro”, disse.
No terceiro dia, um senhor passou pela embarcação em uma rabeta – canoa com motor. “Ela pediu ajuda. Ele simplesmente não deu, continuou seguindo”, relatou. Já à deriva, Maria das Graças decidiu bater as panelas que estavam na embarcação, com o intuito de ser ouvida. “Gritava e ninguém respondia”, contou Cristiane Bernardo, filha do casal.
Quando o corpo de José Nilson começou a entrar em decomposição, Maria decidiu ir para o outro lado da canoa e amarrou um pano na boca. “Ela começou a remar. Não conseguia mais dormir. A força dela era para trazer o corpo dele pra casa, trazer pra família, pra dar um enterro digno pra ele”, contou Cristiane.
Debaixo de sol e chuva, a aposentada precisou defender o corpo do marido de animais. “Ela disse que os urubus começaram a sentar em cima da canoa. Ela batia, ela gritava. Ela botou lençol nele. Tirou a lona de cima do toldo e botou nele, porque as abelhas e os mosquitos já estavam se sentando no corpo dele”, contou.
Maria também contou à família que jacarés rondaram a embarcação.
Antes de ser encontrada pela Marinha, a idosa amarrou uma corda ao próprio corpo. “Ela sabia que a qualquer momento, ela poderia cair para dentro da água e ela não sabe nadar”, disse a filha.
A filha contou que a mãe está debilitada e abalada. “Não consegue dormir”, afirmou Cristiane.
Resgate
A Marinha localizou a embarcação com o casal na manhã de terça-feira (4), à deriva no Rio Negro, perto da cidade de Iranduba (a 27 quilômetros de Manaus).
O helicóptero da Marinha fez o resgate de Maria das Graças por meio da técnica de helocasting (onde o tripulante de resgate é lançado na água e segue a nado para a embarcação).
Segundo a Marinha, a mulher recebeu os primeiros socorros e atendimento e depois foi helitransportada até Manaus. Lá, ela foi encaminhada para o Serviço de Pronto Atendimento da Zona Sul (SPA Zona Sul). Ela teria recebido alta na manhã desta quarta (5).
